ABOUT BILLY LOFTON AND “BABY I LOVE YOUR WAY”
Born in the New York, Billy Lofton was inspired by the gospel music at his local church and by 14 was started auditioning for stage roles, urged on by his cousin, the legendary Aretha Franklin. She took him to audition as a dancer for a show and ended up with a lead role, which led to roles in Broadway productions of Jesus Christ Superstar and Godspell.
Billy has on his craft and his song writing skills and developed his unique velvety vocal style. Billy moved to Australia in the late 80’s. He started to perform in various clubs in the early 90’s touring nationally and internationally. He was likened to many artists including Lou Rawls and Billy Ocean.
In the late 90’s Billy had developed a strong following in Sydney. In December 2004 Billy signed to Blue Pie. Recognizing Billy’s talent Blue Pie and Billy set about looking for the right songs to record. In early 2005 Damien Reilly introduced Billy to one of Blue Pie’s producers Mr. Richie Robinson AKA “Farkaster” and shortly after the creative results of their collaborations appeared with rough working mix’s of “ Baby I love your way” and a superb ballad “ Love’s no longer being served”.
It was not long after that the final R & B version was made that Damien made contact with his good friend at Emporium Music “Dimitri Pavicevic”. Dimitri really understands the pop markets of the world and we all decided that he was the one to talk to about this project. From the moment that we played the demo mix’s to Dimitri he knew that we had something special here with “ Baby I love your way”. Dimitri moved in action.
Billy and Farkaster have since worked tirelessly to cook an album of songs that are pure R & B pop magic. The
album is called “ Love’s no longer being served” and deals with relationships on all levels. Billy and Richie are extremely proud of this body of work. Emporium Music and Blue Pie will release the album in October 2006. The 1st single from the album is “Baby I love your way”. The song was originally made famous by Peter Frampton and was a globally top 10 hit for him back in the 70’s.
With the help of Dimitri at the production helm and Richie in the Studio new versions were created to take this out to the world. Dimitri has a great ear for the commercial sound. Dimitri, Richie, Damien and Billy and he have now formed a solid production team. We are all really delighted with the way that the sensational new versions have now been executed to perfection.
Billy brings a quality entirely his own to “Baby I love your way”. He has made the song his own in many ways and gives thanks to the man himself Mr. Peter Frampton for writing such a beautiful pop classic in the first place. Billy’s youthful energy and tenderness at the same time is like nothing else we have heard at Blue Pie. His voice is unique and one that will be on the airwaves for decades.
